Mora photovoltaic power station is considered to be the largest photovoltaic power station in the world.
The plant is being installed in the municipal area of the alenthomora district of Portugal.
The installation of the first phase of the plant was completed in 2008 and the second phase will begin in 2009 and will be completed in 2010.
Important features of Mora photovoltaic power station 1)
The total budget for phase I project of Mora photovoltaic power station is 250 m. 2)
A total of 320 acres (130 hectares)
Almost twice the size of Hyde Park in London. 3)
The total capacity of the Moura Photovoltaic power station is 45KW, which is enough to meet the power needs of nearly 30,000 households in Portugal.
In the second phase, the capacity of the Mora photovoltaic power station will be further increased by 20 MW. 4)
Moura solar photovoltaic power plant includes all 2520 giant solar panels consisting of small solar panels.
The size of each solar panel is almost equal to the house, and the technology used for them is as complex as that for modern cars.
Solar panels are provided by China Yingli Corporation.
The reflection head of the solar panel tilts permanently 45 degrees when tracking the sun 240 degrees a day. 5)
The project will help prevent 86,500 tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted annually by power plants using coal as fuel.
Mora is located on the border between Portugal and Spain.
By providing such a large budget program to the suburbs, the Portuguese government has given economic priority to areas that are largely excluded from the mainstream development process.
The project was originally developed by Amper-
But in 2006, one of the leaders in the renewable energy industry, the Spanish company Accino, bought the majority of the shares and became the owner of the project.
The city of Maura could not have installed such a huge project on its own, so the president of the city of Maura worked with private companies to fund the project.
Portugal does not have a source of coal, oil or natural gas and expertise in nuclear energy.
With this in mind, China has set ambitious plans and timelines for renewable energy projects.
The Moura project is one of the projects that have been successfully carried out according to the plan.
