Solar DC inverter-free technology initiated by Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M)
Researchers are lighting houses in remote parts of the country, where the terrain is so ominous that the grid cannot be covered.

M, now 3,026 units are being installed in villages in remote corners of Manipur, and another 25,000 solar inverters and lights are being installed in villages in Assam.
Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala, who led this technical study, said when talking about the importance of this project, it is important that, we have played an important role in taking power to remote villages in Manipur, Assam, megharaya and Jammu and Kashmir. Solar-
The DC system makes the size and cost of the device much smaller.
It helps us in these difficult terrain and it will be difficult to carry anything.
Power your home with DC
Power down line
Solar energy will be used more and more in Indian urban and rural households.
The cost of the mannipur project is Rs 11.
Funded by the mannipur Renewable Energy Development Authority.
Installation has been completed in 2,800 homes.
Most of the beneficiaries are located in remote, inaccessible mountainous areas of mannipur.
The project electrified 96 villages in places such as Senapati, Ukhrul, Churachandpur, Chandel, Phrezawl, Thomas and Tamenglong
Venkat Rajaraman, CEO of Cygni Energy Private Limited, spoke about the implementation of the project and said that in 2018, India realized its dream of making electricity available to every village, and we were fortunate enough to be involved in this challenging effort.
Now, our goal is to make 100 of rural households electrified. Our Solar-
DC no-reversal product is a unique disruptive product, which brings a paradigm shift in the generation and consumption of energy.
48 v DC is the standard of low voltage DC (LVDC)

DC solution where people can use power for 8 hours and close to 12 hours
14 hours in reservation mode (
Only basic appliances such as bulbs and mobile chargers).
Typical projects include the installation of a 200 Wp photovoltaic module, solar-
A dc no-reversal controller with a load capacity of 1.
25 KW mAh lithium ion battery, 5 5 w bulbs, 1 BLDC (Brushless DC)
Fan, a fan remote control, a mobile charger and a DC socket.
This product is based on high efficiency and affordability.
The challenge they face is for the implementation team to install the last mile of transport in remote areas of Assam, mannipur and Jammu and Kashmir.
Educating customers to prevent system tampering is another challenge that the team is implementing a customer training program to address.
A large number of homes (
Some of the estimated 60 million families)are still off-
Power grid, electricity-
The lines of these houses may be too expensive.
More people have long-term power.
Can be classified as close to off-grid.
While solar energy is scattered on the roof
Roof-top power generation may be an option for this home, the cost of traditional solar photovoltaic systems providing basic lighting and fans (and cell-phone charger)
Mainly due to poor design, high AC-to-DC and DC-to-AC conversion losses associated with such solar and battery systems, and high cost of batteries. Solar-
The DC system will save about 35-
40 per cent of power compared to solarAC system.
Add energy to it-
Savings related to DC equipment, huge improvements in efficiency become possible.
This improvement in efficiency translates into smaller solar panels and smaller batteries, and therefore costs-
Savings compared to solarAC system. Such a set-
