There are miniature wind turbines on the Mita, and there are four solar panels underneath, competing with giant palm trees to form geometric patterns on East Coast roads.
These towers with wind and solar systems will soon become yet another initiative for Chennai companies to seek to develop alternative energy sources to improve urban street lights, especially along coastal roads mainly located in newly added areas.
Civic groups commissioned a study to mine wind and solar energy with the best hybrid model to improve street lighting in additional areas.
According to people involved in the study, Chennai "is a good wind zone" but is not suitable for large wind turbines above 100 m.
However, the initiative to use micro-wind turbines may also be another stepping stone to reduce energy consumption by 25 in the coming year and save 36 lakh units.
A set of street lights will be connected to a tower with a hybrid power generation system.
These extra street lights will fill the unusual gap between the 2 rows. 2-
The city's 426-square-kilometer lakh street light is mainly located in the Tiruvottiyur, Perungudi and the coastal areas of Sholinganallur in the supplementary area, as well as in the old town area
In many of the expanded areas, existing street lights are found to be inadequate, and the number of street lights in these areas is relatively low at 88,000.
The increased area is an early part of Panchayats and will be the biggest beneficiary of the wind and solar proposals --based models.
Areas such as Marina Beach and Elliott Beach will also benefit from the initiative.
The locations of Tiruvottiyur, Sholinganallur and Marina Beach will receive pilot projects that will be expanded after their feasibility is determined.
This proposal may be feasible after the increase in electricity charges.
These new hybrid facilities, in addition to 25,000 solar energy
Power-powered street lamps were put forward in eight new districts.
The company has come up with a massive plan to replace about 60,000 street lights.
The wind and solar hybrid system will overcome the challenges associated with many of the older lighting systems adopted earlier in Panchayats.
The minimum standard for the company is 25-
When installing these facilities in areas such as Tiruvottiyur, Perungudi and Sholinganallur, the meter distance between the two adjacent street lamps will be observed.
