Why you need a PHEV warning with this X5 - lithium battery pack
I think this review of the BMW X5 xDrive40e with the PHEV warning is correct.
As you may know, PHEV represents the plug
Hybrid cars.
The concept of the whole thing is brilliant;
You can charge it at home or in the office so it can charge you around 30 km cheaply.
Then the engine starts and charges the battery while driving-
Like a hybrid like Toyota Prius.
But there is a problem that, given that so many automakers are producing or planning to produce the quantity of phev, it is correct that I bring this to your attention.

Basically my advice to you is if you just take it as a 2-litre petrol.
You are wasting your money and ignoring an excellent innovation.
I drove it to Belfast and then turned it back and there were a lot of places around Dublin as well, like Volvo, never plugged in.
I still got the equivalent of nearly a kilometer.
But I do drive very frugal-
It's almost a recognition of my laziness because I didn't come up with flex and plugins.
If I had bothered to charge it before going to Belfast, even there, even a few times back home, I could have added another 15 kilometers to my total
That's what it should be all about.
Obviously, if you have a moderate commute, it's a more attractive offer, because technically you can get to and from work on both sides for a fee.
You can fill up the lithium.

BMW claims the X5 can withstand 80 miles (gasoline and electric ).
Of course, this is unrealistic. day driving.
But for an "official" figure, even implied in studio conditions that this is achievable, it is an achievement for a large luxury sports activity vehicle.

There are several shortcomings.
You can't have seven seats because the battery pack is behind;
No room at all.
They say it adds to the balance of the car, but I would say it's a big increase and if you want to have it then use it to reduce your driving costs.
Other complaints came from the rear. Passenger seat.
They said there was a lot of noise from Roads/tires and wind.
I don't know this at all, and that's one of the reasons I'm almost always looking for someone to sit down while testing, even if it's only half an hour.
In this case, this is the best part of five peoplehour round-trip.

On top of that, it doesn't make much difference from your "regular" X5: there are plenty of rooms in front, excellent sports chassis, easy to tighten handle, and I think the seats are very good.
It is still a particularly pleasant car.
While my M Sport's adaptive suspension gives it a big advantage, it may not be as good as its predecessor in terms of handling.
The PHEV revolution cannot be escaped.
We just need to access it for the right reason, not pretend we are "green" and show off, benefiting from lower VRT, road taxes and prices.
Ironically, the x5's total emissions have just exceeded the 75g/km authorization barrier, which will reduce its prices by thousands.
But I bet we'll see technical barriers broken before we use phev as expected.
