The fire department is investigating a small boy's hovercraft after a fire broke out in Brooklyn.
Officials at FDNY say it happened around 5 in the evening. m.
On Tuesday, in an apartment in the Kingsboro residential area in wexville.
Investigators said the family had a brand new hovercraft on the wall to charge.
According to the fire department, they began to smell smoke at that time.
"Toys are sitting on the floor charging and just starting to burn," said the boy's mother Loretta Johnson . ".
"Debris, fire and smoke are everywhere.
"The family said they covered the hovercraft with blankets before they dragged the hovercraft to the corridor to put out the flames.
No one was injured.
"In terms of the safety of lithium batteries to heat this device, you can see what will happen," said Fire Commissioner Daniel nigelow . ".
"If it's plugged in overnight, like many people plug in at home at night to charge, I think we might have a tragedy in Brooklyn.
"Parents said they bought the board as a Christmas gift for their son.
It is currently illegal to take hoverboards in the city, but some state legislators are illegal.
