The Vector-based company won the Alice Springs battery energy storage system project in a competitive tender, which aims to provide a 5 MW system to help improve the energy network in the northern region.
While Vector currently has smart meters in Australia, the regional power generation contract is its first battery storage attempt at Tasman.
The company said in a statement that Vector will design, build and install battery storage and will be responsible for ongoing maintenance.
"You see a lot of countries are now looking to go to carbon dioxide, and customers are more willing to make choices about energy," CEO Simon Mackenzie told business desk . ".
"This technology is not only better than deploying traditional network assets, such as batteries and control environments, but also shows how to use it, not only reducing network costs, but also providing customers with choices.
"Vector has three more opportunities in Tasman, some of which are still in the final stages," McKenzie said.

McKenzie said Vector is a leader in technology and has expanded its suite of services through the acquisition of E-Commerce

Vector also has exclusive Australian rights to integrate and develop new energy services and manage some of the technologies on its network using Israeli developer mPrest software.
This gives the company the opportunity to market network management tools with solar and battery products as commercial customers want to "source energy in a smarter way," McKenzie said ".
