FlexGen will provide power of 10 MW, 42 MW
Vistra Energy is located in the hourly battery of the 180 MW Upton 2 solar farm in West Texas.
More than 4 hours, the system can provide 10 MW per hour.
A megawatt can power 200 households in Texas in the summer.
The Upton 2 solar plant, which was put into operation in June 1, is the largest solar plant in the state.
The battery system will be stored in 40 containers
FlexGen CEO Josh Prueher says there are boxes of size on the site and work has been going on since then.
The battery is expected to go online by the end of 2018.
He said that while he would not publish the cost of the system, it would cost tens of millions of dollars.
Priech's company has been engaged in similar battery systems in the military and oil and gas industries for many years.
