Tesla said on Wednesday that its solar plant in Buffalo, New York, will become a "manufacturing base" for its electric vehicle supercharger cabinets and other energy storage products ".
The company disclosed the move in an annual report to New York State, which provided substantial subsidies to the Buffalo plant.
Tesla employs 329 employees at the plant, while its partner, Panasonic, has about 400 employees at the plant, the report said.
Tesla has more than 300 employees elsewhere in the state, the company said.
As part of its commitment to New York, the company was required to have at least 500 employees in the state by April 30. (
