The City of Surrey today opened a new sustainable fire hall in South Surrey.
The new lobby includes solar hot water systems, water fixtures to reduce flow, and energy-efficient lighting systems.
It also includes the city's latest public art exhibition, which represents the spirit of the community, depicting two firefighters and four students at Hall Prairie primary school.
Mayor Dianne Watts said: "For 65 years, residents and businesses in the Grandview Heights and the hazmill community have been served by dedicated volunteer firefighters who provide excellent emergency response
"The new hall represents the beginning of a new era, which expands the scope of services to meet the growing population needs of South Surrey.
"Fire Hall 14, 2016-176 Street, Surrey will be one of the first municipal buildings visitors will see as they cross Canada/The United StatesS.
Use the Pacific Highway to border Surrey.
The design combines art, wood, water, rock and glass to represent the contemporary sustainable image of Surrey.
