Photographer chémcpherson took an incredible time-lapse photo from Coronet Peak vantage point north of Queenstown.
Mcfenson said he was "completely in awe" during this experience, adding that the Aurora was different from the Aurora he had seen before.
"It's a wonderful dance when it lights up the sky, it's the strongest Green I see from any aurora," he said . ".
Near the poles of the Earth, Australia's Aurora and its northern equivalent Aurora Borealis are most visible.
They are caused by collisions between particles in the solar wind and gases in the atmosphere.
Aurora is more common in winter when the sky is dark and there is no cloud.
