"When you see the Milky Way, this is a good definition of having a dark sky," Mr Hillier said . ".
The Milky Way is a string of stars in the sky.
The dark sky map is a satellite image taken at night showing light pollution from the town.
The darkest area on such a map is the best area to watch stars.
But if they choose their place carefully, Hillier says, urbanites can still stare on the lawn of their home.
He suggested parks and school grounds as they tend to stay away from street lights and high-rise buildings so the night sky can be seen more clearly.

Also in 2009, Galloway Forest Park was named the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, an award set up by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA)
Help reduce light pollution.
Since then, the types of starwatchers who have come to the area have changed, says Mike Alexande of Galloway Astronomical Center, a nearby stargazing B & B expert.
"Through 2010, we have seen business growth of 25 to 30%, specifically because of the Dark Sky Park.
So far, the vast majority of people have a very clear interest in astronomy.
The extra visitors come and see what all the fuss is about, and also because they see a dark sky on vacation and want to repeat the experience in the UK.
