Meander Valley Council was opened to its community and became the first community in the north to replace street lights with energyefficient LEDs.In the Council's first step to becoming energy smart, the winding valley area has replaced more than 1400 street lights.The Council celebrated the completion of the first phase of the Northern Lights movement on Wednesday.White, MP for Meander Valley, said street lights have been replaced by 14-watt LED lights."This will save 82% of the emissions of old greenhouse gases," she said ."."The cost of the project will be realized within 8 years.xa0Since then, we will save money on the economy and on greenhouse gas emissions.Ixa0I think this is equivalent to getting 300 cars on the road.The committee launched the project five years ago, and all other northern committees joined the project."Other people are making their changes, but the winding valley committee is actually the first to completexa0They do, "said Cr White.The celebration took Place at the Prospect Vale Market Place, where council had a booth to explain the lights and display solar panels, battery systems and electric vehicles."All of these exhibitions point in the direction of the Council," Cr White said ."."At the moment, LED lighting is only part of it.We installed solar panels and battery storage in the Prospect Vale motion room.We are doing one.xa0Feasibility Study on establishing bio-energy for industrial use in Westbury industrial zone.The launch coincided with the winter solstice."We chose the winter solstice to celebrate because it was the darkest and shortest day," Cr White said .".The next phase of the Council project is to test road lighting.Project officials are standard, says Cr White."Project officials,xa0Craig Plaisted, he's done all the hard work he's ever done."Not only does he have a great deal of skill in terms of technology, but he is the one who created all the partnerships," she said .".Cr White hopes the initiative will be rolled out in other parts of the state
