Mass production of carbon will begin
Coated aluminum foil reducing lithium resistance
Ion battery (LIB) electrode.
Compared to conventional plain aluminum foil, products sold under the SDXTM trademark can reduce the contact resistance by about 50%.
This will greatly improve the fast charge/discharge performance required by the collector in the car LIBs.
The SDK has been providing SDXTM to a limited number of customers in an effort to improve its quality.
Given the customer's high valuation of the product, the SDK decided to fully launchscalesales.
The SDK plans to achieve SDXTM sales of 5 billion yen in 2015.
The LIB has a device on each electrode for collecting and removing discharge.
In this device called a collector, aluminum foil is used for the cathode and copper foil is used for the anode.
As a cathode material for large LIBs, lithium phosphate (LFP) has attracted much attention due to its high safety and long life.
However, the LFP has a high resistance, and for ordinary aluminum foil used as a collector, a high contact resistance * is generated *.
Due to this high contact resistance, LIBs generate heat when charging/discharging quickly.
In addition, the poor adhesion of the LFP to the ordinary aluminum foil makes it difficult for the cathode material to be uniform.
SDXTM is produced using our proprietary technology to coat ordinary aluminum foil with conductive carbon.
The product reduces the contact resistance between the cathode material and the collector by about 50%.
Due to the significant reduction in contact resistance, the rate performance * is increased by more than 30%, resulting in a fast charge/discharge of high current.
In addition, the adhesion to the collector is increased to 1.
5 times the regular level.
This will increase the productivity of customers.
SDXTM is already in large-
Electrode production.
Showa Denko Group selected "Environment/energy" and "electronic products" as its main business areas under the new media
The PEGASUS business plan promotes the supply of advanced components, materials and solutions.
The advanced battery materials division of the SDK, which is responsible for the development, production and sales of LIBs and fuel cell components, will make full use of the group's rich inorganic materials to accelerate R & D and commercialize in these areas, technology of aluminum and organic chemistry.
* Contact resistance: This term usually refers to a voltage drop that occurs when the current passes through two different conductors.
In this case, it refers to the resistance that occurs between the cathode material and the collector.
The level of contact resistance is proportional to the resistance of the cathode material.
* Rate performance: the term refers to the rate at which the capacity of the slaughterhouse remains the same as the current changes.
As the rate performance improves, the battery can keep charging and discharging faster.
