For the past few years, I have been buying bottled salad dressing at the Breadalbane Inn at a specialty store in Elora.
My husband and I wanted to celebrate our anniversary by visiting the restaurant.
We don't know what to expect except that we know their salad sauce is delicious.
What we didn't expect was that we would have mixed reviews after our dining experience.
When I arrived at the front door, I noticed that there were two restaurants in the Breadalbane Hotel, neither of which was called Breadalbane.
Scozia is their casual restaurant featuring authentic Italian cuisine with fresh local ingredients.
The bar meal is a special feature of the Ferguson Room bar.
When I looked at the menu posted, my husband helped an elderly woman navigate to the restaurant through the patio entrance, which is the easiest place for people with action needs to get.
When I walked into Scozia, I was immediately struck by the idea that I wanted the walls to speak.
I know the story of this building 150.
Plus years of history will fascinate me.
The warmth of the past with the original walls and stairs to the upper level the hotel maintains an added solarium dining area and an inviting terrace with water features.
The street light pillars in the solarium give a sense of nostalgia for the past, as well as an atmosphere to enjoy a romantic dinner or leisure night with friends.
Noticed that there was some confusion with our booking and the staff felt uncomfortable and I felt something was wrong.
The foreman approached our table with two glasses of proseck wine and thank you for helping this older guest.
I decided to focus on this unexpected gesture of gratitude as a positive start to our evening.
We received the menu and made the decision with some tips from the server (s).
First of all, we chose the rucora salad ($8)
Caesar salad recommended ($7).
Rucola is a mixture of arugula, roasted pistachio and lemon zest with shaved glampadano (cheese).
I really like the salad and have been trying to prepare a similar version at home since then.
My husband described Caesar very well;
As you will find in most restaurants.
I ordered a glass of wine for dinner.
There was no discussion about wine selection and the wine was forgotten.
Pizza on a diet ($14)
The main course I chose was delicious.
Cheese with goat's milk, Thistle, black olives and garlic sauce.
The bread was crispy and not too thick, enough for my lunch the next day to take home.
After a reminder, I received a glass of red wine ($5. 75)
I had a good meal.
My husband said he chose Bistecca ($29)
Delicious beef tenderloin with Italian ham and butter and sweet and sour sauce;
Very tender and delicious.
At this point in the meal, we discussed the number of waiters who visited our table and the fact that the waiters who sat us down forgot to share with us their featured Farm --a-
The rich menu is very consistent with our impression, and we think the restaurant needs a better service system.
After a long wait, our dessert arrived. tiramisu ($7)
Chocolate ice cream ($6).
Overall, we noticed that the atmosphere in Scozia was comfortable and warm, the food was fresh and the taste was good, but the restaurant took a night off for their service.
A week later, I came back for lunch with a friend.
The waiter is very attentive and the waiter is also very enthusiastic about the description of the menu items.
The food was delicious too, but we waited a long time for dessert.
The foreman apologized for waiting and the waiter paid for our coffee and tea.
We found that the restaurant is under new management, so they are probably trying to improve.
If you have time for a leisurely meal and are looking for fresh food, good value and a unique atmosphere, I suggest you go to Scozia.
Evaluate food, atmosphere, service and price.
