SEATTLE—The U. S.
The US Department of Energy says Seattle will take the lead in promoting street lights using energy-efficient LEDs.
The Department of Energy said on Monday that Seattle was chosen to lead a national urban alliance that will look at the best way to use lights and what equipment to buy.
Federal agencies provided $200,000 for the project.
Seattle City Light plans to install 5,000 LED street lights this year and 40,000 in the next five years.
