The latest update: Will you be on a business trip on February 8, 2019?
If you are traveling alone or going to an unfamiliar place, it is important to take additional precautions against the hotel you have booked.
"Where to?
The taxi driver asked and glanced at me from his shoulder.
"Central Park West," I replied, giving him the address of the hotel I booked.
He left and soon left onto the west end of Central Park. It was mid-
On a sunny autumn afternoon, local retirees, nannies and tourists stroll along the sidewalks around the park.
"Which street is that hotel near?
Asked the driver as we passed the Museum of Natural History. "I don't know.
"I only have the address," I replied.
I got the name of this hotel from the discount travel agency online and I didn't expect to have a crossroads.
I know there are many wells-
Well known hotel in the west of Central Park, I'm glad that week I was able to find a room anywhere in Manhattan for less than $325 a night.
I had thought about living with my son who lives in the city, but he just came back from Europe the same day I arrived in Manhattan.
So I don't think he's willing to be with me.
After many blocks, the taxi driver stopped at the end of Central Park.
There is no stroller here.
In fact, there seem to be very few people outside.

But I pulled the suitcase's hand up and pushed it to the hotel across the street.
I climbed up the tired and dirty marble steps leading to the entrance to the hotel, pushed open the heavy old door and walked into the small hall, looking like a shabby scene in a detective movie in my 40 s.
Humphrey Bogart stared at me on the pillar, and it was all gone. "Oh, stop.
How bad is this place one night?
"I thought.
I told the clerk my name and credit card information and was surprised how she cleverly filled out the document when she was arguing with someone on the phone. "Fifth floor. Number 11.
"The elevator on your left," she said, handing me the key.
Then she turned around and re-joined the argument.
The lobby on the fifth floor is very narrow and the wall on my right is brick. Real brick -
Painted a fancy, shiny yellow color.
I pushed the idea of the "Wizard of Oz" aside, dragged my suitcase behind me and aimed at the hall. Number 7. Number 9. . .
I'm at the end of the hall.
There is an exit sign on the wall in front of me and the arrow points to the left-directly to the door of Room 11.
I opened the door and pushed it open and saw a curtain rolling in the breeze.
The room is really exit.
The Open Window leads to the fire passage of the building.
I took a quick look at the cheap bed, bedside table and TV and took out my cell phone from my wallet to call my son. "Hi, it's Mom.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? "Safety first.
Luckily, the worst thing that happened on that trip was losing the $160 I paid for the discount hotel room.
But I should know better. As a self-
When I am on a business trip, I almost always travel alone and usually book my own room.
Over the years, due to some other unpleasant experiences, I made some rules that I usually followed (
But was ignored on that trip! )
Reduce danger.
First, peace of mind and safety are far more important than costs.
This is especially true for a woman traveling alone.
If you are traveling to unfamiliar places, you can avoid the most dangerous situations by remembering these additional rules: stay healthyknown hotels.
If you can't afford it
Service accommodation, ask if the chain is valuable-
Property priced in the same general area you would like to live in.
Ask your client if there is anything in the hotel suggestions and/or city that needs to be avoided.
If you are attending a meeting, check in to the conference hotel or the nearby conference hotel.
The numbers are safe. (
You also have the opportunity to connect with other attendees. )Join a group.
If you spend the night at a meeting and want to go to town or go out for dinner, see if you can attend sponsored events.
You will be safer to learn about other attendees.
If you drive, plan to arrive during the day.
It doesn't matter whether you drive all the way or from the airport to the hotel.
Nothing is worse than getting lost in a bad area of the city at midnight --
Especially if you are a woman driving alone.
If you are flying and have to arrive after dark, take a taxi from the airport to the hotel if you do not know the road around.
You can always arrange to pick up your car the next day or take a taxi throughout your trip.
Carrying a mobile phone (
Car charger and/or portable battery pack. ).
Put the phone in an accessible place.
If this happens, you don't want to call for help via luggage, a messy computer box or a wallet or a car trunk.
Get a good directionand a map -ahead of time.
Yes, there may be GPS for your smartphone or car rental, but the GPS device is not always accurate.
Also, there are some annoying times when there is no signal.
So, before you leave, get instructions from the hotel you are going to stay at or from the contact you are planning to go --
Remember to bring those.
You may also want to print directions from the online map site and take them with you.
Write down the full name, address and phone number of the place you will be staying.
In big cities, there are often more than one hotel with the same name.
If you have a name, you tell the taxi driver to take you to Hilton. . .
They will ask you which one you can tell them soon.
Get the phone number of the taxi company at your destination before you leave home.
The Internet search for the city taxi you will visit will usually show the company's name and phone number and often comment or message the taxi fare.
Put your favorite number in your phone or at least write it on paper.
Use a passport box or something like that to store the documents needed during the trip.
Arrangement documents (
Such as: boarding pass, car rental booking, hotel booking, etc. )
In the order in which you use them.
When you are in the room, keep the security lock on the door of the hotel at any time.
Don't kill people in clothes.
Visible, expensive jewelry or clothing makes you the target of a robbery.
Find the fire passage before you settle down for the night.
I participated in two hotel fire evacuations and I personally guaranteed to find the fire exits and understand the importance of the escape plan for the hotel rooms and floors.
