Green says battery storage systems installed in homes and businesses will help South Australians who have electricity cut off in severe storms.
The Greens are pushing for a national policy to provide Australia with a tax credit of up to $5000 to help reduce the cost of battery storage for solar systems.
"Bringing a battery boom to South Australia will provide families and small businesses with the energy security they need," Senator Sarah Hanson-SA Greens-
Yang said in a statement.
"Renewable energy and battery storage are the future and will help to sustain the sustainability of energy demand while bringing much needed jobs to our state.
"The policy also includes a grant program for low-income people.
In the first year of this policy, the grant cap for each household was $5000.
The Green Party estimates that if this policy is implemented, it can reach a maximum of 1.
2 million families will be involved in the program across Australia.
