LiPo batteries should not be discharged below 3.
0 V/cell, otherwise they may be damaged permanently.
Many Chargers do not even allow you to charge the LiPo battery under 2. 5V/cell.
So if you accidentally let your plane/car run too long, you don't set the low voltage cut-off correctly in ESC (

, Or you turn on the power switch and forget to unplug LiPo and leave your plane on the tree for the night (
Same tree, separated three times, because you are so excited and fly almost dark, so fly stupidly in a small place, etc. etc.
, You may find yourself in a situation where you have discharged LiPo below 3. 0V/cell.

Many people throw fat into the trash can. I don't.
I restore them. Here's how.

"This is because it is well known that abuse of LiPo batteries can sometimes catch fire, some will burn houses or cars, and quite a few radio-controlled planes are on fire when they crash and are damaged due to fat.
However, during a reasonable or slow discharge, fat does not catch fire even if it is discharged all the way to 0 V/cell.
The LiPo that causes the full discharge to catch fire is the * charging * phase, not the discharge phase.
The reason is when LiPo is below 3.
7 V/cell, which begins to increase the internal resistance to accept the charge, some of which are permanent. Below ~3.
0 V/cell damage is serious enough and worthy of attention. Below ~2.
5 V/cell, most LiPo charger manufacturers say battery charging is too dangerous.
This is because the internal resistance of the battery charge has increased enough at this point that at such a low voltage level, the standard charging rate is too large for LiPo, since the standard 1C (
1 x Battery capacity)
Charging current may result in potential unsafe heat generation
Inside the battery. Below ~2.
The LiPo rate of 0 V/cell permanent internal damage is accelerated, below ~ 1.
5 V/cell damage rate (
Again, the internal resistance increases permanently)
Adding more will only get worse and worse.
The speed of this damage increase is not linear.
It may be a power function of the battery voltage, or it may be exponentially related to the battery voltage.
Both cases are not good and special care must be taken.
What I have to say now is that I have successfully restored dozens of batteries.
Some of the worst things I continue to use are as low as 1. 0V/cell.
However, I have successfully charged the battery as low as a few mV/cell--
It may be 10 mV/cell or 0. 010V/cell.
However, these batteries are useless and will soon be self-contained
After removing from the charger, discharge back ~ 0 V/cell.
Define "restore": before I go ahead, let me define what I mean when I say I have "recovered" these fats.
I'm not saying I 've fixed them or reversed the damage to them.
I'm not saying I brought them back. as-new.
Instead, I mean, I just simply charge them to a safe, usable level where they can continue to be used. That is all.
Reminder: what I describe below is how I can restore the battery. Use caution.
If your battery is at 0.
The internal resistance of 5 V/cell is much higher than that of only 1.
0 V/cell, the internal resistance in both cases is much higher than LiPo at 1. 5V/cell.
Again, the relationship is not linear in my opinion.
Keep in mind that high internal resistance is the cause of heat (
Could cause a fire if you are not careful)
During recharge
So if you try to "restore" your excess
Drain fat, you take full responsibility for what happens next.
Having said that, I have never had a problem.
The only battery I really care about is ~ Battery for 0 v/cell so I really looked at it very carefully and I charged it * especially * very slow.
I'm not going to go into detail with LiPo balance charger, but you definitely need a charger that can balance multiple balances
