Charities raise awareness and raise money by encouraging individuals to run or walk for their personal cause and collect donations.

Dance Victoria is accepting the application for 2019 chral al Dance Award, the richest international cooperative Dance Award in Canada.
Victoria dance will reward emerging artists up to $6,000 in fulltime studies.
This is a scholarship program for dancers/dance artists who want to continue or complete training and/or study at accredited institutions outside Canada.
Past awards are for students attending the Juilliard Academy of Music, Alonso golden line ballet training program, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Ballet Academy, Butler University, etc.
Applicants must be residents of western Canada and Victoria residents are preferred.
Not eligible for intensive and summer programs.
If an artist is entering a second or third year of study and is living in a foreign country, their permanent address or origin must be in Western Canada.
The award was produced by a legacy produced by the dance Victoria patron Dr.
Betty Cleman of the Victoria Foundation.

One of her most striking roles is to protect and manage the alpine park in Oak Bay.

An official award ceremony was held at the government building on May 1.

This month, students from the Middle School eco-education center class at Salt Spring Island middle school traveled to garriano island to participate in a unique renewable energy source in the action School program.

These two days are full of insightful activities and experiments that explore how to produce, measure, and use renewable energy to power all of our electronics in our daily lives.
The group sleeps in tents and prepares food in a comfortable classroom/kitchen facility powered by solar panels and spare batteries.

The event was hosted by the great Victoria bicycle work Association.
Starting in April, it will host several bike skills courses and workshops in the workplace, allowing people to start commuting by bike.
This year's cycling week starts on May 27 and there is a celebration stop for June2 throughout the Grand Victoria.

The boxes have been delivered to the poor recipients identified by the Artemis House, YWCA, Boys and Girls Club and Cridge center.
Thoughtful boxes can be put down at Mayfair optometrist clinic at 3196 Douglas Street from Monday to Saturday until April 25.

Lisa Ruffolo wrote a blog called ALS Can Kiss my a $, who was chased by the ALS Association of BC.
Lovero was born-and died —
On Vancouver Island, at the association's most recent awards ceremony, she has been recognized for her efforts to raise public awareness of atrophy lateral soreness.
Shortly after Ruffolo was diagnosed with ALS, she began writing about her journey on her blog.
In her words: "ALS picked the wrong person.
Join me when I adapt and embrace the changes my body is forced to comply.
She fought hard but eventually died of the disease in last August.
In her last post, she answered a series of 39 questions about the meaning of life, titled: Lisa's life lesson.
She would like to raise 39 questions for the article to reflect her 39 years on this earth.
"Lisa's open courage to her illness inspires everyone who meets her.
She made raising awareness of ALS her mission to benefit others affected by the disease, "said Wendy Toyer, executive director of the B. ALS AssociationC.

Saanich park and entertainment, youth services are being nominated for 2019 Saanich Youth Award.
These awards recognize young people who have shown encouraging personal achievements in schools, communities, sports, art and life, or who have made significant progress in personal development, they go beyond helping the earth and/or their communities.
Youth groups and young workers who make great changes in the lives of others will also be recognized.
The categories of awards are: Big change Award, community Promotion Award, Pioneer Award, ecology

Mobile adaptation fitness will move into a new, expanded facility at the neurosports rehabilitation center on Monday, a center that provides integrated services for people with neurological disorders.
The public is invited to visit the spacious new gym and an array of improved equipment.

You may be the next residential artist in Victoria, as the city of Victoria has made a request to express interest to artists from BC residents.
The city is looking for a professional artist engaged in visual media and performing arts.
Successful applicants will work with city staff to identify and develop creative artwork for one or more public art projects within two years each yearyear term.
The artist will work as an independent contractor and propose creative proposals and engagement strategies to develop and complete at least one permanent artwork in Victoria by May 2021.
Successful candidates will work 20 hours a week in two weeks
$42,000 per year.
The project is funded by the city's public place art reserve fund.
In addition, artists will receive a project budget of $30,000 to develop projects in collaboration with the urban sector.
