More than a century ago, Thomas Edison's patented rechargeable battery was making a comeback. The nickel-
As the inventor expected, the iron battery may still prove to be a viable power supply for electric vehicles.
Thanks to the redesign, Edison's battery can now store almost as much energy as lithium, Grams

But researchers reported online in June 26 that the redesigned battery is charging faster and is expected to be cheaper and safer.
"People gave up this type of battery in the 1970 s because there were better batteries at the time," said Dai Hongjie, a chemist at Stanford University.
"We made Edison batteries interesting again by significantly improving the ability to charge and discharge.
Edison's original design, which was patented in 1901, required two metal electrodes.
