oh the places to stay (and not stay) in mauritius - solar powered street lights

Mauritius-we have been traveling for six months, so we know one or two things about the good place to land.
We use many different methods.
AirBnB, booking. com, Ms.
Google, the guy in the cafe's advice and the logo on windows worked.
What we want is unique, charming and stylish.
What we need is clean, affordable and primo location.
These methods are not always perfect.
So, in chronological order, our six Mauritius.
Leave the best to the end
We need to stop when we get to Mauritius
Gap place stayed for two nights before our apartment was available.
We found an affordable room in a small hotel in a beach town near the airport, with charming blue Bay names.
Do not believe the press release.
Well, the bay is blue, but it's a smelly place.
It's a hotel, not a bay.
This is not necessarily a problem.
There is some smell in many parts of the tropical area because it is very hot and humid.
We're not Tipo, but we have standards.
We found chantaavent guest house by booking.
We have achieved great success. Not this time.
Lyla got a thin mattress on the floor.
It's great because it's a lot easier for millions of bugs to crawl on her.
Water is cut off for several hours every night, which makes it difficult to brush your teeth or cool down.
It is unusual to cut the water because of the shortage of H2O, but most hotels have a reservoir that will allow you to have a dry time.
The furniture was moldy.
When we mentioned to the manager that the rusty old fan was not working, he said . . . . . . "Yes, it's not working ". Blank stare.
Although I really appreciate his positive use of negative things.
Remember, humidity is 100% and temperature is 37 degrees.
Oh, we can put up with anything in 48 hours.
We accidentally walked into the Blue Bay hotel across the street and spent a few hours next to their lovely pool to relieve the pain.
Our next stop is our cool terrace overlooking the ocean of India.
I'll tell you right now that I love AirBnB.
Every place we book through this groovy social media/shack-
The Up site is the winner of two thumbs Up.
We never ended.
Promises, or bumps in the neighborhood, are often very happy.
Multiple photos give you a real understanding of the family and you can read honest reviews from previous guests to not only feel the house but also the owner and area.
You can also ask the host questions before arrival, and they are usually much more flexible than the hotel in terms of arrival and departure times.
The owners are usually friendly and generous people who also like to travel and are the champions of their hometown.
They will be happy to give you local tips and insider information about the great things to do.
Most of them are private homes so well equipped kitchens help a lot with our budget and eating habits.
I was a little worried because we promised to stay in this place for 28 days.
What if it's another stinking dump?
We don't know yet, but at noère Noire, we will have a great time and meet some new friends in the process.
Our nightly entertainment Chad Hipolito/press Canada apartment is perfect. Whew!
It is located in the House carefully cared for by Joe and Keith, with a 180-degree panoramic view of the beautiful blue lagoon on the southwest coast.
The mat is spacious within our budget (
Cam and I have our own bedroom. Wooopie! ! ! )
Fully equipped and spotless, with lush mature tropical gardens and even a refreshing pool! ! Cha-ching! !
The apartment turned out to be a huge blessing as it would be a safe haven for us to squat down in front of the Bansi cyclone.
Our kind and generous hosts drove our trucks around the West Coast and the south coast to tell us about the people and their villages.
We enjoyed evening cocktails together, the sun shone into the Indian Ocean, and tropical birds circled overhead.
During our stay we got a mobile phone that we could use and were invited to dinner.
We were even included in Keith's birthday lunch.
This is unlikely at the Hilton Hotel.
SeaPoint Bungalows, we didn't see the next point, we moved to the "North" because it was called a few weeks to explore the northern part of the island.
This is a more mature department in Mauritius, providing tourists with a variety of large flashy shops, restaurants for tourists, bars for tourists, and there are many tourists.
We want to divide the past few weeks into several parts to experience a different atmosphere.
To choose our first location, I spied on Google Maps, found a beachfront hotel, then scanned the Web and cross-referenced their website.
This is a sneaky spy I like.
Kind of like travelingspying.
This occasionally backfire.
Perhaps this is karma to eliminate the middleman in order to save a few dollars.
The View and staff were great and the photos of the hannah yoyoyoon/CP file in Seapoint bungalow looked really good (they were old)
The price is right, but the reviews on TripAdvisor about the place are a bit shabby and mixed.
We could handle a "small" issue and I found some people posted on TripAdvisor grumpy and too negative so we decided to give it a try.
The staff was very attentive.
The office manager Shika even showed some lovely mehndi artwork on the back of Laila.
But the apartment was shabby.
The cabinet was collapsing and a man named apado scribbled his name on the wall in big words.
No one is willing to wash it off or apply it to it.
I hope that apado will have a good time.
The entrance to our room smelled like a mystery.
The shower will be filled with 10 cm of dirty water, no lights by the bed and only a bare light bulb on the ceiling.
We are afraid that in the evening, when the sashimi finally falls off, it will be cut into pieces by a clingled film ceiling fan.
There are more, but you will understand why you are wasting your time.
The view was fantastic and it was a great location so we covered our noses and stayed in the apartment for a week.
SpaRic Ernst/PROVINCEAfter sweepers at muhuang resort (
Yes, I know, the first world problem)
During that week we decided to splurge in a nice hotel.
We chose the kacasu na Resort and Spa.
This is our first and probably the last stay at the all inclusive hotel.
We don't usually do that. We loved it! !
Our daily travel budget is usually divided into three aspects.
Have you ever heard of "Eat, Pray, Love?
Our bed, food, fun!
Like a corrupt government, we can steal things from one place to strengthen another.
Sometimes we eat cheap things at a roadside snack stand so we can do expensive things like scuba diving or buy a new swimsuit.
Everything must be considered clearly if we want to continue.
So after a family meeting, we proved that if we spent all our work at the same time and didn't put in another penny, we could afford it in a week.
Also, I don't have to cook!
Ding, ding, ding!
Benjamin's living room is an evergreen tree in CasuarinaThe (
This is a local Mauritian pine tree)
A good choice.
The staff here are very enthusiastic.
Our "groovy baby" two bedroom bungalow is clean and bright with a shagadelic 70 feel and a delicious curry buffet at night.
We also make the most of all the water sports provided.
We sail, kayak, bike, water, and our little heart.
The best part of the week is our friends, especially Lyla.
She made contact with a French girl, Inez, her age, who speaks English well enough.
Along with Lyla's French language, they adapted a form of "friendship" that seemed to fit both of them.
Our last night was dancing with a local Mauritian band.
Hummingbird Villa, Truro Rudder Road.
On the East Coast, we stayed for a short night at a private little pink guesthouse on the island's east side of Trou d'Eau Douce beach and found it a lovely little gem.
The Lady in the House Patricia is a Swedish artist who is interested in getting to know everything about Canada and she is really excited when we leave.
It was very interesting to watch fishermen pull their boat out of the water with tractors.
Almost seven weeks after leaving Mauritius, we have another stop.
This will prove to be the best.
Our luxury tent Otentic eco-tent experience Hotel in Otentic eco-experience Hotel is the most amazing place.
But it's not just a place.
The luxury camp of 12 hunting tents is located on the south bank of the southern tip of greater liville --
Est is just upstream of the vast blue lagoon of cerle aux Cerfs, flowing out of a 4-meter waterfall from a short kayak or SUP paddle.
Otentic is the first and only eco tent hotel in Mauritius.
You can see the concept of sustainability in recycled building materials and solar hot water showers, and from the moment we arrived, we became interested in the desire to hire local workers, they share a truly warm Mauritian experience and a great deal of chic design in European countryside.
We were taken to our large overhead platform tent with recycled pallet beds, crisp white linens and private open air bathrooms.
I love this room!
The floor is gravel paved with paving stones, and The Dresser is built with an old door and a carved burl wood sink.
It's totally worth designing magazines.
Then we are guided to ourselves. serve honour-
In the System Bar next to the dense shady pool, we were instructed to write down what we had drunk on a small notebook at the counter.
We were mixed up with a friendly international client and were invited to hop on the back of the 4x4 pickup truck before sunset and ride the windy ride on the cane, admire the west side of the island overlooking the East.
Our charming host, Jerome, told us a lot about the people and history of Mauritius, who poured Cold Roses and turned around the olives.
The owner, Julian, and his wife, evigo, and their three lovely children, played cards and played games with Lyla on the first night.
In the evening, sit by the fire and chat, shoot mosquitoes, and catch the tick on the beer balance sheet, with a warm public feeling.
There are some very interesting people living in Otentic from Switzerland, Austria, the United States, France, and some Mauritian who take advantage of one of their numerous national holidays.
Lantern light chad Hipolito/Canadian newspaper spiced crab chowder after sleeping in the comfort of the night, tropical rain banging tents, holy songs from the local mosque dancing in the breeze, we wake up from childhood, but the freedom of ability
Standing kitchen
Healthy and Delicious food is my favorite food, we were cooked with love by talented kitchen team with well defined fresh local food.
The Creole here is not overcooked.
The dinner included spicy crab soup, smoked grilled tuna and spicy sauce salad.
Delicious dessert
Fresh coconut ice chocolate lava cake-
Cream and mint in vanilla garden.
There are a variety of curry and hot and sour sauces for lunch, all made by yourself.
Kayak to the falls and serve us delicious omelet with French bread, homemade yogurt, pineapple jam and freshly squeezed juice.
We hop on the free shuttle every day, down the river, and then go out to leaux Seve, where we walk on the 30 degree Indian Ocean, collect shells, last time
The camp is also equipped with mountain bikes to guide you on a wonderful hike and bike ride on lush sugar cane-covered, lush local hills.
Our second and last morning, Lyla and I crossed the river with some apple slices and fed a group of monkeys.
It was a crazy and wonderful way to end our 7-week diversified stay in Mauritius.
We should come early and stay a little longer.
There will be mountain biking, hiking and more exploring.
We have to go back.
In fact, we save the best to the end, disappointment has been forgotten.
