New $0. 66 billion
Solar and battery storage projects in northern Victoria
The company said the West could offer solutions to struggling businesses in Australia's volatile energy market.
The Lyon Group plans to start building new facilities in nomingji, south of Mildura, in September.
Partner David Green says the project will ensure that businesses and organizations get electricity when they need it most.
The company also announced plans to build a $1 billion battery and solar farm in South Australia River Beach by the end of the year and build a smaller project in Cape York, far north Queensland
"In fact, for the first time in Australia and overseas, we have provided opportunities for large energy users, generators and retailers to use the batteries we are developing and building," Mr. Green said, so they can seek service from the battery.
"This is very different from the previous practice in the Australian market.

Power users will be able to bid for the storage of facilities used in the event of a power shortage or an expensive price.
Dylan McConnell of the University of Melbourne's School of Climate and Energy said the project could also benefit a wider power network.
"Other benefits of storage providing network support.
"They can reduce the need to upgrade the transmission line and help control the voltage, etc," he said . ".
He added that the battery system is also able to respond quickly to the decline in the frequency of the grid in case of power outages and emergencies.
"If we have a heat wave and the electricity price is high, even if the company has a storage financial contract, you will expect the battery to still serve the grid," he said.
"This facility has two hours of storage.
When supply breaks or demand is unusually high, it effectively replaces peak capacity.
"As more Australian homeowners install their own energy storage batteries, the demand for battery storage has been increasing.
Chief Scientist Alan Finkel suggested a major review of Australia's energy sector to focus more on batteries and pumped storage.
Green said it would tender access to storage systems.
"First of all, we will seek
"The qualifications of the parties that are in line with the real interest, then we will go through an interest expression and the bidding process," Mr Green said . ".
He said the project will help provide alternatives to energy users and retailers seeking to avoid inconsistency and uncertainty in the current market.
Green said the project will create about 250 jobs for the nomingji community and provide other jobs and education opportunities. Topics:solar-
