NLC was present.
The Ministry of new energy and renewable energy has developed an action plan for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to achieve its green initiative programme.
The NLC was assigned to set up a solar power plant in Andaman to phase out the use of the UT diesel generator set. Mr.
Acharya said the NLC proposed the installation of a 50 MW solar power plant at Attam Pahar in South Andaman and Kishorie Nagar in North Andaman.
The NLC will establish these projects under the MNRE program, which provides 40 of the cost of capital as a subsidy.
He said that Attam Pahar, Garacharna have identified the necessary land for the power plant and are conducting site preparation activities for the installation of the 20 mw solar project.
Starting with the 20 mw solar project, it is recommended to install a battery energy storage system with sufficient capacity.
The project will meet the power needs of South Andaman, and the power is fairly flat and firm during peak periods of demand throughout the day and night.
This arrangement will greatly reduce the consumption of diesel power generation, thus reducing environmental pollution.
Power generation costs will be lower compared to current diesel
Based on Power Generation. Unique System
Acharya said the NLC also proposed to install a 30 MW power project in North Andaman.
The project will be connected to the pumped storage system of Kalpen hydropower station.
This is the first of its kind in India, where part of the solar energy generated by the project will be used to pump water from the lower reservoir up during the day.
This will ensure the operation of the hydro power plant throughout the year.
