18, with the increasing number of cars electrified, a variety of dazzling hybrid power, plug-and-play
Hybrid and pure electric drive systems will be brought to market in the coming years.
Every new model, consumers will seize the precedent.
New electricity-
Driving a vehicle like a battery
Nissan Leaf or Chevrolet Volt plug-inin hybrid?
Or Toyota Prius gasoline.
Is the right benchmark electric?
When it comes to BYD F3DM, a Chinese car that is expected to be listed in the US early next year, the correct answer may be, "All of this.
F3DM starts with the front platform-
Drive BYD F3, a well-recognized bestseller in China, and add a 16-kilowatt-
Hour battery pack and two AC motors.
Its operation is sometimes closest to pure electric vehicles;
At other times it is closer to the traditional hybrid.
BYD calls it a dual mode
The DM section of the F3DM name.
BYD designed the car mainly powered by electricity.
After charging the battery pack overnight, the driver will punch holes in the dashboardV.
Button, power off using lithium only-iron-
Phosphate batteries.
This chemical is not as good as lithium in storing energy-
The manganese formula used in leaves and Volt, but BYD said it made a trade-off for safety and durability.
For simplicity and cost control, the F3DM does not have an active thermal management system for the battery
Some of the things that Volt engineers say are critical to cell life.
The car is a 50-
KW unit driving wheels and 25-
Kilowatts of auxiliary equipment that can send power to the wheel or generate power through regenerative braking.
As long as the charging level of the f3dm battery is above 20%, the two motors can handle all the work;
Travel about 30 miles along the road, and the car automatically runs from E. V.
Mixed mode operation.
At this point, f3dm's 1-liter 3-
The cylinder engine is put into use, making the battery as close to 30% as possible, effectively extending the vehicle's range for hundreds of miles, just like the Chevrolet Volt.
There is a direct connection between the gasoline engine and the wheel, Prius-
Just like a way to come in handy when speeding up on a highway. In high-
Under load, 68-
The horsepower gas engine is combined with an electric motor with a total power of 168 hp.
The size of the battery pack matches the capacity of the Volt at 16 KW.
However, there is a big difference.
F3DM uses 100 3. 3-
Volt batteries stored under the cabin;
Volt uses 288 lithiummanganese-
Arranged in T-
Walk along the center of the car. The F3DM’s 1-liter 3-
The cylinder engine is a simple engine, but it is perfect for charging the battery.
BYD has shown more talent by using rooftop solar panels as a standard feature.
It's more of a display than a substance, but it does provide some electrical energy to run auto accessories like radio and climate control.
Ultimately, solar panels may not add much cost as BYD is one of the world's largest manufacturers of photovoltaic cells, in addition to being a global leader in lithiumion batteries.
