Hewitsons law firm has appointed a new partner in Cambridge's corporate team.
Lawrence Evans was promoted from his previous position as a senior assistant in the Newmark Road corporate office.
He joined the company as an intern in 2006 and now advises private and public sector clients on a wide range of corporate matters from corporate acquisitions and disposals to mergers, collaborations and group restructuringorganisations.
His field of expertise also includes consulting companies to start businesses.
Corporate governance, investment and financing agreements.
Colin Jones, managing partner, said: "During his career, Lawrence has been impressed with his legal expertise, excellent customer service and winning the company's new business.
Finally, it was an easy decision for the board: he should be in that role at all.
Evans himself said: "When I first started training for Hewitsons, it seems that I have come to the conclusion that I will be working on the charity law, but, just before the credit crisis, the company is very busy.
I was quickly thrown into the deep water area and loved it.
If there is no chance to try something different early, I may never get to where I am now.

"PEM has appointed Jayne Rowe as a partner for the non-profit team.
She joined Deloitte as an expert in the industry with over 15 years of experience working with various charities including grant agencies, INGO, member organizations and fundraising organizations.

Partner Hazel Platt, based in the city but currently leading the company's East Anglia tax team, took over the role of practice leader from partner Darren Bear, who became a regional management partner, head to Grant Thornton's eight offices in the central and eastern regions.
Platt joined the financial business as tax director in 2011 and has accumulated more than 20 years of experience working with dynamic businesses, many of which operate globally.
As a new role of practice leader, Hazel will continue to build on the work that Darren Bell has achieved so far, bringing together the broad skills and capabilities of Grant Thornton's East Anglian team, best customer service throughout the region.
As a regional managing partner, Bear Stearns will lead Grant Thornton's strategy in Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich, Chelmsford, Milton Keynes, Northampton, leicester and St Albans offices will further consolidate the company's impressive success stories in recent years.
Elsewhere, James Brown, the current regional managing partner, began his role as head of GT growth.
He will focus on developing new ways to drive top-level growth for the company while continuing his long term development

Cambridge Housing Association (CHS)
Strengthened its heritage of housing, care and community services, appointed Tony blevett as chief financial officer and Stephen Hills as director of operations.
Blewitt, a FCCA qualified accountant and experienced chief financial officer, will work with the chief executive to provide strategic advice and guidance for the development of Cambridge and the county and for all CHS Group development in the Ministry of Finance, financial and Risk Management.
Hilles is a familiar face for the industry, previously serving as housing director at the South cam County Council.
