Local media reported that MS Hayes used spare battery packs inside the car, including warnings not to expose the batteries to the sun.

MS Meyers told Nine News: "I quickly got Tommy out and when I got him out it exploded and a lot of smoke came out and started to catch fire, so I ran to save Hunter.
