A couple in West Kildonan said the melting of spring found a depressing display of meth tools in Winnipeg Park.
When Hayley Martin and her boyfriend Wesley Veldkamp crossed Farlinger Park a few days ago, they found a large plastic kettle, a lithium battery, an empty bottle of cough syrup and an empty fake

The couple saw the meth lab in the documentary.
"Look at it first --
We were shocked, "Martin said.
The couple thought the mess might have been covered with snow and they didn't know how big it was.
"Before I saw the batteries and cough medicine, we thought they were bombs in the first place," Veldkamp said . ".
Farlinger Park is a small green space in a dense residential area.
It is close to two shopping centers, including the Garden City Mall, which is face-to-face on Lyra Avenue, between McPhillips Street and Garden Park Avenue.
The discovery was discovered when thousands of students celebrated spring break, which exacerbated the panic of the couple.
Martin posted photos on a public community Facebook page on social media.
"This should not happen," Martin said . "
"We called the police to clean it up.
"She said that her reaction to the police to their call was almost as surprising as her response to the discovery itself.
"They are just worried about acid.
They said, does it look like a fire hazard?
That's all they worry about.
Veldkamp added: "We are very worried about the safety of the children going to that park.
You can see all the footprints around the structure of the game, so no one goes there. . .
And all the dogs walking in the park.
The couple said: "This discovery is sobering and there is another reason.
They want to know if they should worry about the community they live in.
"What's worse is that someone makes meth there.
The bottle is very melted and covered with various residues.
The process is dangerous, given that they are caused by the emissions of gas (chemical)
Reaction, "said Veldkamp.
Street drugs, guns and crime have triggered such a toxic mix that the police mention the ice-poison crisis almost every day when discussing arrests.
The murder rate this year exceeded 2018, with an average of nearly one per week, including six this month. (
Eleven murders this year took place on Tuesday. )
Several have been linked to the use of meth, including the killing of West End High School student Jaime addon in a family invasion last month.
For decades, drugs, needles and utensils have been part of the city's park landscape.
"Is there any acid in this bottle?
Is this an attempt, or does anyone actually make a meth shake and bake? Maybe.
"I'm not sure," said Winnipeg police spokesman Const . "
Rob Carver said Wednesday.
But any bottle with acid is at risk and it is certainly dangerous to try to shake the meth.
"It's like pretending to be a grenade.
It's too dangerous, "said Kaver. alexandra. paul@freepress. mb.
