Ma gao: solar street lamps installed by the city council of Ma gao (MMC)
In the past year, it has not been operating around the building.
Even as the city celebrates Diwali, festival of lights, and the recently famous Dindi, the solar lights fail to contribute to the lighting of the MMC square.
Goa Energy Development Bureau (GEDA)
In a joint project in February 2010, MMC installed 50 lights in the city
There are 12 buildings around the municipal building and 38 in the municipal garden.
The cost of the project is averaged by MMC and GEDA, which are deposited in 6 lakh.
While the lights installed in the garden are working properly, 12 lights around the municipal garden are not working properly.
MMC's sources said the lights were purchased from three different companies, which are expected to undergo regular maintenance for five years.
"The emergency light started to fail less than six months after installation," said an MMC official . ".
Srinet Kothwale, chief officer of MMC, said that the failure of the lamp appeared to be the exhaustion of the battery.
"The battery needs to be charged.
Kothwale told TOI two weeks ago, "We have notified GEDA . ".
GEDA Michael d. souza's member secretary said in contact on Wednesday that he was not aware of the issue and that he would look into it.
"So far I have not received any communication from MMC in this regard.
D souza said: "If there is any maintenance arrangement with the private company, I will have to check it out . " He added that the project had already started before he took office at GEDA
The former chairman of Savio kotiño MMC, whose solar street lamp project was carried out during his tenure, said: "I took the initiative for this project, the main reason is that this risk of MMC will promote the government's efforts to promote renewable energy.
If the authorities are unable to ensure the repair of several lamps, how will the public be encouraged to use the solar system?
I think all government offices should have solar lighting systems installed because it can save at least a lot of power waste.
