Hi, everyone!
Today I will show you how I can convert (replace) my old Ni-Cd drill to li-Use an ion of 18650. 1)High-
Amps (30 a) lithium battery 18650, capacity 3000 mAh (really, tested): 2) BMS protection board for Li-
Lithium ion (12, 6 V/3 s): 3) 12, 6 V lithium battery charger (adapter): 4) battery power indicator: small push switch: part copper cable 1) remove the battery handle of the drill.
2) contact blocks separately from old batteries ("top" and "-" at the side).
3) break the extra plastic elements.
4) find the location for all components.
I use a hot glue gun as a battery pack.
I also glued BMS to the battery.
6) I welded the battery together with the BMS protection plate as shown in the figure.
The battery can't overheat!
So I used the acid.
I felt it for less than a second. I used 2.
5 mm² copper wire. Theory:-
Current.
We should use high current batteries for drilling or screw drive.
I used 30 lithium. -Voltage.
My old battery is rated 12 V. Every li-
There are 3-ion batteries 18650-4. 2V.
So I decided to connect 3 pieces in series.
My battery pack has 3*3 = 9 v (discharge) and 4. 2*3=12. 6V (charged). -Capucity. My old Ni-
The Cd battery is 1200 mAh. My new li-
The ion battery has 3000 mAh.
I tested it with my tester.
Therefore, the estimated run time is more than twice that of the original package. -BMS. Li-
Ion batteries must be protected.
The battery can be broken without protection.
A short circuit can heat up and cause a fire.
For 3 batteries in series, there is a special "3 s BMS protection plate ".
Voltage Protection Board watch for each battery.
It turns off if one of the batteries is less than 3 v (2. 75V maybe).
Rated voltage is 25A.
7) I weld the level indicator and Button to BMS like in the photo.
Don't confuse polarity!
Then I covered the battery contacts with insulating tape.
There is a special level indicator for the 3-cell 18650.
It works from 9 to 12. 6V.
8) I welded the contact group to BMS with 2 copper wire 4 mm².
Put it in your hand.
I think I'm lucky :) my battery handle fits perfectly!
The battery fits closely and has a position of an indicator light.
It fits well too.
I just drilled the hole and poured the epoxy into it.
I also drill holes for buttons.
I'm happy: the DBattery handle is ready!
I took the old charger apart.
I removed all the components between the input connector and the contact plate and welded a wire to connect the input connector to the contact plate.
Old adapter can't be used!
Principle: lithium battery has a special charger.
For my "3 s battery pack" I use 12. 6V charger.
I chose the 1A charger.
So it takes 3000 mAh/1000 mA = 3 hours for the charging process.
You can buy 2A and need 3000 mAh/2000 mA = 1,5 hours.
I'm lucky again :) New charger has plug
Like my old connector! Perfect!
I tested my new battery.
I cleaned up the old plaster dust on my brick wall (I'm fixing it ).
I started at 18: 40 and ended at 20: 30.
1 hour 50 minutesPerfect!
Thank you for reading!
I'm waiting for your opinion.
