Japanese carmaker Mitsubishi Motors on Wednesday asked 4,000 owners of its hybrid and electric vehicles not to charge their cars until an investigation into the overheating of their batteries.
The move was made after melting the lithium battery pack of the hybrid Olander sold earlier this month, as well as a fire caused by factory overheating devices that produce MiEV electric vehicles.
No one was injured in either incident and the facilities were not damaged.

A company spokesman said that the hybrid model has been on sale since its launch in January, "We ask its owners not to charge the battery until the cause of the incident is confirmed . ".
The company sold at least 68 all-electric vehicles on the same battery model.
"We suspect that these two cases were caused by changes in the production line of the battery supplier," the spokesman said . " And added that the company did not receive any similar complaints from the owners of both models.
The troubled battery was made by a joint venture of Mitsubishi Motors and Mitsubishi Corporation. and GS Yuasa.
On January, the battery of a Japanese Airlines 787 aircraft caught fire, forcing the ANA flight to land urgently. GS Yuasa attracted global attention.
GS Yuasa has a contract for all dream batteries.
Japanese authorities said they found no major problem with the company's production line for Boeing Dreamliner batteries.
