A company that makes "the world's first premium electric sedan" is opening a store in American car company Tesla, which also has 14 stores in the UK, including London, Birmingham and Manchester. Opened at the former Jack Jones store on the May Day arcade.
The Cambridge store is coming soon, according to its website, but it is not clear whether there will be real cars.
The website says the company's mission is to "accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy," and it will also open another store at London's Canary Wharf.
Tesla, founded in 2003 by a group of engineers in Silicon Valley, wants to prove that electric cars are better than gasoline --powered cars.
They launched the Tesla sports car in 2008, with a lithium-ion battery of 245 miles per charge.
The cars are now on the road in more than 30 countries.
On 2012, Tesla launched the Model S, which is the "first high-end electric car in the world" with two dual motors.
The model's wheel drive configuration was released in 2014.
"Tesla owners enjoy the benefits of charging at home, so they don't have to go to a gas station or spend a penny on gasoline," the company's website said.
"For long trips, Tesla's charging network offers the convenience of high-speed charging, which takes only 20 minutes to replenish half of the charge.
Now superchargers connect popular routes in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Tesla says it is not only a car maker but also a technology and design company focused on energy innovation.
