ir remote controlled home automation using pic microcontroller - pcb assembly services

In this project, we will use the PIC micro-controller to remotely control a small amount of AC load via the IR remote control.
Here we use EasyEDA's online PCB designer to design it on the PCB and order the PCB board using their PCB design service as shown in the follow-up section of the article.
At the end of this project, you can switch (ON/OFF)
Any AC load using the normal remote control will not affect the comfort of the chair/bed.
To make this project more interesting, we also enabled a feature to control the speed of the fan with the help of Triac.
All of this can be done by simply clicking on the IR remote control.
You can use any TV/DVD/MP3 remote control in this project.
The micro-controller receives different infrared signals from the remote control, and then controls the corresponding relay through the relay drive circuit.
These relays are used to connect and disconnect AC loads (Lights/Fan).
The scheme diagram of the project is shown above.
The work of this project is easy to understand.
When pressing the button on the IR remote control, it sends a series of codes in the form of a coded pulse using the 38 Khz modulation frequency.
These pulses are received by the TSOP1738 sensor and then read by the controller.
The controller then decodes the received pulse sequence to a hexadecimal value and compares it to the pre-defined hexadecimal value in our program.
If any match occurs, the controller performs the relative operation by triggering the corresponding relay/Triac, and the corresponding result is also on-board LEDs.
In this project, we used 4 bulbs (small bulbs)
Different colors as lighting load and another bulb (bigger bulb)
Considered a fan for presentation purposes.
We chose key 1 to switch relay1, 2 to switch relay2, 3 to switch relay3, 4 to switch relay4, volume to increase fan speed and volume
Reduce the speed of the fan.
Note: Here we use the 100 W bulb instead of the fan.
Different devices can use multiple types of infrared remote controls, but most of them work at about 38 KHz.
In this project, we use the infrared TV remote control to control the household appliances, and in order to detect the infrared signal, we use the TSOP1738 infrared receiver.
The sensor can sense the 38 Khz frequency signal.
The work of the infrared remote control and TSOP1738 is described in detail in this paper: infrared transmitter and receiver our PIC micro-controller works under 5 v, relay works under 12 v, therefore, we use a transformer to reduce the 220 v ac voltage and correct it using a full bridge rectifier.
This rectified DC voltage is then adjusted to 12 v and 5 v by using the regulators ICs 7812 and 7805 respectively.
To trigger the relay, we use a transistor like BC547, which can be used as an electronic switch to turn the relay on/off according to the signal of the PIC micro-controller.
To further control the speed of the fan, we use TRIAC.
TRIAC is a power semiconductor that can control the output voltage;
This function is used to control the speed of the fan.
We also use our PIC micro-controller to control Triac using Triac drives.
The driver is used to emit an ignition angle pulse to the Triac in order to control the output power.
Here we use level 6 speed control.
The fan will turn off when the level is 0.
When the level is 1, the speed will be 1/5 at full speed.
When the level is 2, the speed will be 2/5 of the full speed, and the other speeds will be 2/5 respectively.
Current level of speed can be used on-board 7-Segment Display.

This is an online electronic components online store launched by EasyEDA, they have about 25,000 kinds of components, and best of all, they even sell a small amount of products for small projects, it is also possible to ship with the pcb you ordered at EasyEDA, which saves a lot of time and money.
As mentioned earlier, you can use any type of remote control in your project.
But we have to know what kind of signal is generated from that particular remote control.
For each individual key on the remote control, the key will have an equivalent hexadecimal value.
Using this hexadecimal value, we can differentiate each key on the micro-controller side.
So before we decide to use the remote, we should know the hex value of the preset keys in that remote.
In this project, we used the NEC remote control.
The above gives the hexadecimal value of the key on the NEC remote control.
As you have noticed, there are 7 characters in the hexadecimal value, where only the last two are different, so we can only consider the last two numbers to distinguish each key.
Here you can find the schematic diagram and PCB of the circuit, which can be used as a reference.
You can also find the schematic on EasyEDA: complete the design of the PCB, you can click on the manufacturing output icon, which will take you to the PCB order page.
You can order this PCB directly or download the Gerber file using this link.
The board and finished board we received are shown above.
EasyEDA recently released a new website dedicated to PCB and PCB assembly services called JLCPCB.
Com, they make PCB at very low speed, the price of 10 pcs 10x10 cm PCB is $2, you can also order PCB here.
The program for this project is done using MPLABX and the code is very simple and easy to understand.
The complete code will be given on this page.
