Big Vancouver is changing, growing and growing every day --
Whether it's expanding our trade ties and bringing our natural resources to market, more than a million new people are welcome to our province in the next 20 years, or inspire ideas that will drive the next generation of technology and creativity.
We have been benefiting from low for decades
Cost of water and electricity.
In fact, many of B's resource industries. C.
Today is based on this competitive advantage.
As our economy continues to grow and change, building a reliable new energy infrastructure is essential to provide the certainty that our industry and businesses need to invest and expand.
That's why the big Vancouver Trade Commission (GVBOT)
I think the clean energy project at Site C is very important.
It will provide reliable, clean, low 100cost power —
What we need is critical infrastructure so that our economy can continue to grow and create jobs.
That's why I'm disappointed with the recent report from University B. C.
Water treatment project.
Instead of looking objectively at the best way to meet our growing economic and population energy needs, the report is irresponsible in its analysis and deliberately arranges time to influence provincial elections.
The report deliberately uses outdated unit energy costs for 40-40 C sitesper-
It is ten percent higher than the actual unit energy cost of the project.
It then compares this inflated cost to another energy portfolio that relies on generating significant energy savings by charging commercial enterprises twice as muchtiered rate —
This structure has proved so ineffective in reducing energy consumption that B. C.
Water and Electricity Commission recently approved return to apartment
Rate structure, with strong support from customers.
To make matters worse, the author of the report is not qualified for energy
Planning Analysis.
In fact, in a recent decision, Judge Robert Howell rejected a similar analysis by one of the authors of the report.
Site C is the most-
Study Project in B. C. ’s history.
As the third dam on the Peace River, using the existing Weston Reservoir and its huge energy storage capacity, it is by far the most-cost-
Efficient and eco-friendly way to produce reliable clean energy that our province needs to develop.
In terms of B. energy planning, we cannot be reckless. C.
We need the website C and any debate on this item should be objectively and fully informed.
Industries, businesses and communities that rely on secure energy infrastructure to serve the future are equally worthy of ownership.
As the project will meet long-time requirements, the GVBOT continues to support the C site
B. long-term demand for electricityC.
Our residential, commercial and industrial customers.
When it is completed in 2024, it will benefit all of us. C.
By providing costs
100 years of effective, clean and reliable electricity.
The construction of the project has entered a later stage, providing impetus for the economic development of the northern area of B. C.
Our whole province is in urgent need.
