As a successful coach, I am often asked how to change your life.
There are many forms of this question, of course, but the answer is always the same.
The quickest way to overcome any challenge or change your life is to change your thoughts about anything that brings you difficulties.
Let me show you a simple solution to make the most of this principle. Dr.
Wayne Dale was one of my personal inspirations, telling the story of a man who lost his keys.
The problem is that his family is dark and he can't see anything.
What does he do?
He went outside and looked for the key under the street light he could see.
Of course, he couldn't find the key there.
But this is the easiest place to see, so he's here to try.
When you find yourself struggling to overcome a challenge or achieve a desire, ask yourself if you are looking for your "key" under a street light "?
In other words, are you doing easy things?
This is what we do at some point.
But it will never work, will it?
It will never give you the real result you are looking.
Of course, it's easier to look outside under the lights, but the answer is not there.
The answer, the solution, is always within yourself.
It is not until you shift your attention from all external things, from blame, from excuses that you begin to make real progress in your life.
This is part of taking responsibility for your own life.
The only person in the world who has the ability to change the direction of your life is you!
It starts with changing your mind.
If you can change the way you look at the events and situations around you, these events and situations seem to change.
By simply changing your perception of reality, and by changing your perception of life, you actually change what life thinks of you.
After all, the reality that you experience at any given time is just a picture that is a small part of what actually happens, filtered through your senses and mind.
Essentially, you just "see" a tiny, tiny reality.
Depending on where you put your attention or focus, you will experience something different. What Dr.
Dell said that when he tells the story of finding the key under the street light, in order to change "you", you have to look at your heart.
You will never find change somewhere.
Finding answers or solutions outside of yourself will only get you deeper and deeper into the chaos you find yourself in.
Want to get stuck?
All you have to do is shift your attention to the real changes you want to make.
Change your perception of reality. That's all.
The reason you feel this way is because at some point you decide that it is a suitable feeling in this case.
But you are not bothered by this reaction.
You can change it if you don't like it. You can change!
There is always a better way to see any situation, there is always a way to find peace, there is always a way to find dreams.
Just find it and embrace it!
