Government says no to CSIRO energy scheme - home battery storage

They say the national energy program, which could start as soon as 2020, will be heavily dependent on solar and wind energy.
They say Australia's net emissions could be zero by 2050, but the price of carbon emissions is essential.
But Josh Frydenberg, the energy minister, told ABC soon that this would not happen.
"In the 2013 election, we had a fierce struggle with the Labor party on the carbon tax issue.
We have won this win convincingly and successfully abolished the carbon tax.
We won't go back down that road.
We certainly will not go back to the carbon tax.
The report says it can save consumers $400 a year on household electricity bills.

The report states that by 2030, some energy sources in the eastern states could come from this renewable technology and easily replace coal --fired energy.
John Bradley of the Australian energy network company said that this does not mean a massive power outage like last year, causing the state in southern Australia, which is heavily dependent on renewable energy, to be paralyzed.
"We can control the intermittent nature of renewable energy that poses challenges in South Australia.
We can keep the power grid stable by using smart technologies such as batteries and other forms of synchronous condenser, and keep the power grid stable under high voltage, at the other end of the system, lots of rooftop solar and battery access to the grid.
But Bradley says a safe and balanced energy network requires the government's commitment.
"This framework relies on stable and durable energy policies and carbon policies.
This means cooperation between the state and the federal government, and a policy framework that will not change during each election cycle.
But when you think about the importance of energy to our families, to our businesses, it is as important as defense or foreign affairs and in the national interest.
Josh Frydenberg told ABC that the government is on track to achieve its own international agreement --to targets.
"There are a lot of mechanisms you can use to reduce emissions.
We were very successful in defeating our first Kyoto goal.
We are expected to exceed the 2020 target at a speed of 0. 224 billion tons, and we expect to exceed the 2030 target, with our carbon footprint reduced by 26 to 2005 by 2030.
"The government has only recently announced that it will give itself the power to force gas companies to isolate some of their supplies to domestic customers before shipping them overseas.
The government plans to implement it from July and will only be triggered if the supply forecast is insufficient.

Opposition energy spokesman Mark Butler said Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull would not commit to a policy that environmental conservatives in the coalition do not support.

Keep him off the right shackles of this policy and start rolling out a plan that will put downward pressure on electricity prices for manufacturers, industry and families.
