On Monday, groups that built the Valley Line light rail said Mill Woods's power street lights were being replaced after a constant buzz in the area.
The noise has angered 47-year-old Tracey Gomez and her family over the past week or so, and they say it keeps them awake at night.
"It's just a constant background buzz (in the house) that you can't turn off," she said ). ".
A spokesman for the consortium TransEd, which built the line, said that although the street lights on 66 and 36A Avenue are solar powered, it is also equipped with a generator.
The spokesman said that when working properly, the generator will only run for about an hour when the sun goes down, and will only operate if the solar panel does not generate enough power during the day.
However, Gomez said the generator was running intermittently throughout the night.
"I'm sure it's temporary, but it's very tiring," she said . ".
Tracey Gomez recorded the operation of a generator near her home.
A spokesman for the deal confirmed that the group was replacing the lights after hearing the complaint.

The power heater is also running all the time to ensure that the newly poured concrete can settle properly when the temperature is below 0 °c.
Residents of Mill Woods have been complaining on social media about a variety of Buzz nearby.
Jeffrey Gu, a University of Alberta physicist, said that the buzz that can be heard indoors is usually produced when two sounds with similar frequencies "interact or stack.
These sounds produce a third, much lower frequency sound, which can then spread further.
The same thing happens when using two tuning forks at the same time.
Gu said: "The lower frequency tends to decay less . . . . . . They can last longer through earth materials . ".
If the sound of one generator interacts with the sound of another generator, which may occur, Gu said, adding that he cannot specifically talk about the noise associated with the LRT structure.
