German energy giant Sonnen officially opened its home battery assembly site at the old Holden factory in northern Adelaide.
At least 50 new employees have started working in the past few weeks, and all production roles have been held by former employees of car brands.
Adam Williams, a former Holden worker who left three years ago, said it was surreal to return to Elizabeth's old workplace.
"We were driving at the time and there were thousands of people here.
"Walk in today and you can go through the assembly plant and it's quiet and a little emotional.
"Now, 14 people working for Holden are back on the floor, and Mr. Williams says the excitement has returned to the workplace.
"It's great to see some industries come back and develop the site again to give the northern suburbs a chance to find some work in the area," he said . ".
Christoph Ostermann, executive president of Sonnen, said he was very happy to come to the Holton factory because it was a symbol of the Australian industrial tradition.
More than 430 jobs will be created by the end of 2019, and at least 100 people will be employed by the end of this year.
"This is the first storage system and manufacturing plant in Australia . . . . . . We want to make a sustainable mark at both ends of the environment and economy.
"A partnership program has also been established with tafe sa to train installers on new energy storage technologies.
Prime Minister Steven Marshall said having a manufacturing center in Adelaide in Songnen Australia, Asia and the South Pacific is an important step in revitalizing the state's industrial base.
Before that, the state government announced $100.
Millions of investments in home battery storage to provide cheaper, more reliable energy.
According to the plan, 40,000 South Australian families will receive grants of up to $6,000interest loans.
Nearly 4,000 residents have requested an offer.
Mr. Ostermann said his company hopes to deploy more than 50,000 systems over the next five years.
"We want to create the world's largest virtual grid in South Australia to provide clean and affordable grid power for the power grid infrastructure and customers in South Australia," he said.
