This is the advice given by Australian Chief Scientist Alan Finkel in nearly 400 reports submitted to him on the future of the national electricity market.

"Dr. Finkel has also been to Europe and the United States while working on a blueprint for Australian energy market operations and regulation.
Many submissions support a market mechanism for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, which the coalition opposes, but Labor supports in the form of an emission intensity plan.
