Electric-vehicle battery companies reported a slight increase in sales and profits in the first quarter of 1964 yesterday, despite what officials described as a "serious industry-wide reduction in car replacement battery business.
"Due to the relatively warm winter, this factor was offset by improvements in the electric battery industry and international operations, and shareholders were informed at the annual meeting in Philadelphia.
Earnings rose from $1,451,000 to $1 million, 58 cents a share and 55 cents a share.
Sales rose from $39,754,000 to $38,666,000.
