I built this electric bike for commuting.
I stretch the rear triangle part partly because I want the extra hold and partly because I like the way it looks. :-
) I started with a couple of roadside-
I welded the bike together to make an extended frame.
I use a simple fixture (made of parts from an old sports bike) to keep the line as straight as possible; -
) This shows the initial test of the hub motor and the controller.
I am using 20Ah 48 v lithium ion battery which is not shown in this photo.
All purchased on EBAY are hub motors, controllers, and batteries.
Pay attention to the two brackets.
I need both due to the stretched frame and battery weight.
I am very satisfied with the performance of this bike.
I can keep 25 miles per hour with a moderate pedal, I can easily commute 15 miles (every Road) to work, and when I get home the battery still has the power to spare.
I installed a DC-to-
DC converter (from RC hobby supplier) to generate a voltage of 6 V to run headlights and tails
So all the appliances on the bike are running with a 48 v battery.
