Kathleen Oswalt, executive assistant to Maria RodaleI, a guest blogger, was very fortunate to find a job that could provide me with so many different and exciting opportunities.
As an administrative assistant to Maria, I learned a lot about organic matter and was passionate about the green lifestyle.
At this time, I am as green as possible and always learning new things.
Recently, one of the opportunities involved in the job was to accompany Alice Waters and her friend Betsy as they entered the city for the Rodale Institute organic Pioneer Award.
They decided not to offer a car service, but instead chose to let me drive anywhere they needed to go. No problem!
I was the same place they went.
Let's be more serious, it means spending one. on-
Spent a time with Alice Waters and her dear friends!
It was an experience I was very grateful for, showing them our area and tasting Alice's view of the world.
But this is a completely different post. . . I digress.
Honda had lent it to Rodale Inc. at the time . .
An electric vehicle, a Honda Fit electric vehicle, will be tested throughout the year.
Plug in this little guy and you can drive 80 miles with just one charge.
After some discussion, Maria and I decided to use it while driving Alice and Betsy.
I got the key back and got a quick tutorial on using the machine. Bring it on.
When I walked outside to meet meand-
Greetings, I saw a small blue gold block with a car on the wall.
It was strange to see it at first, but I was eager to give it a try.
When you first drove an electric car-
Of course, after the power is unplugged--
It has a feeling of almost a golf cart.
I don't mean it in a negative way.
In fact, it is quite lively-and whisper-quiet!
I circled around the building to make sure I could actually drive the car and then officially take over for a week.
I will drive eco in a week-
O, very excited about this!
I learned that this product has a lithium content of 24 KW hours.
Ion battery pack powered 100 kw hp 123 electric motor with power of 189feet of torque.
It can be charged from a home outlet within 16 hours, or from a dedicated 240-
V toll station.
You can rent this accessory in some states for $256 a month.
When I first ran, the car was full of electricity and ready to set off.
I took it home and put it in my little brick room.
This is a small car, but it certainly doesn't feel very small when you are sitting in it.
Since it's fully charged, I didn't try to plug it in overnight.
The next day, when I picked up Alice and Bessie, I told them about my little eco-car adventure and we were gone.
Alice was excited to drive an electric car because she had been thinking about one for herself.
After driving for a while, I can easily say that it's great on the normal town Road ---
It was an interesting journey.
However, when it started to rain, I was on the highway and the blue sedan felt a bit like a blue roller skates.
But before I realized we had only half of the cost left, or about 40 miles, everything was still good and fun.
Aware of this, seeing Alice worried that we wouldn't be able to attend the awards ceremony that night, I dropped her off and drove home to charge.
Since there is no power outlet in my garage, I am trying to charge the car with annoying lights
The orange extension cord pulled my fence into the backyard.
I jumped back an hour later and only saw an increase of four miles.
Is this really happening?
I walked to my parents' house (they have garage outlets) and tried it again. . .
Four more miles.
Well, this canceled the mileage to get there, so it was a bankruptcy.
Unfortunately, even though Rodale has a 240 v charging station, my house is not set to charge fast.
Seriously, I should have gone! Lesson learned.
You definitely need this car if you want to own it
Voltage charging stations nearby
In the end, I used my own
Let Alice win the electric car of the organic Pioneer Award.
So maybe I only finished eco for two days-o, but I tried!
Now, of course, if the car has a longer range, or can surpass
I will get one soon as it is a fun and lively little journey.
I'm sure these issues will be resolved in the future and you'll see me running quietly around town in my own little electric car.
But when a famous chef drove around the town on a tight trip?
We haven't arrived yet!
