Sir James, who became a billionaire after inventing a bag-free vacuum cleaner, wants to take advantage of sakti3's "solid-
State "battery innovation is used to extend the life of Dyson cordless and robotic vacuum cleaners between charging.
"If we are going to continue to create new disruptive technologies, we have to develop more advanced core technologies," Sir James said . ".
"We have invested more than £ 200 in the development of Dyson digital motors, and this technology is now powering our most successful machines.
We do the same with the battery.
Sakti3 has made a breakthrough in battery technology, and we will implement this technology together with Dyson.
Sir James Dyson and his new robotic vacuum cleaner
The house battery team has been working on battery technology at its Malmesbury headquarters for the past five years.
A spokesman for the company said the technology will now marry Sakti3 advanced lithium-ion batteries, the safer successor to the liquid version, and the new intellectual property rights will be fully owned by Dyson.
The Sakti3, split from the University of Michigan 10 years ago, has attracted $50 equity investments from companies such as Khosla Ventures, Beringea, Itochu and auto giant General Motors.
Founder Ann Marie Sastry said of the acquisition, "Dyson, like Sakti3, is motivated by a desire for a bold leap in technology.
We are delighted to join James and his excellent team to make our battery technology a business reality.
