The thief attacked the lamppost at Esquimalt Canyon Park again Thursday night.
This is the second theft in two nights.
The damage caused by the theft of six lampposts the night before was estimated at about $100,000.
Jeff Miller, director of engineering and public works at Esquimalt, said the cost would be high as 36 positions in the area were linked.
That means simply splicing wires together is not an option, he said.
"We are trying to find a way to move on and get the lights back on," he said . ".
Miller said he was not sure how much money he got by stealing the wire because of the value of the copper and the wire could be resold.
"I don't know if they will make money from it," he said . ".
"I think it could be a big job if they really get anything out of it.
According to Victoria Police, the theft cost less than $100.
They said a small amount was taken the first night and about 60 metres was taken the next night.
Park User Gerald athernott agreed to make very little money.
"I think it's terrible," he said . "
"They would do it for the meager amount they could get, which surprised me.
During the thief attack, some posts were in progress, Miller said.
"We are removing the old poles and installing the new ones," he said . ".
"We will do about 20 of the 36 projects below.
Miller said: "This work means that the power of the lamp post is turned off.
"The lights are out, so I think it's because we're working on them ,[the thieves]
It is safe to assume the touch power supply.
"They are also careful to stay out of sight," Miller said.
"They stressed not to go under the lights on the exposed side, the canyon side," he said . ".
"They stay where there are leaves and covers.
Barb Desjardins, mayor of Esquimalt, said that it may be time to study new technologies such as solar energy. powered lights.
"Maybe there's a chance to make some changes because it's obviously something old.
"Victoria Police asked anyone with stolen information to call 250-995-
