I found this infrared thermometer very accurate and very easy to use.Upon arrival, you will need to insert the CR2032 coin battery into the battery box.Although the box says there is no battery, it would be a good addition to put a battery in the box for quick installation.Once the battery is pushed into the compartment, it will click to a safe location and the removal requires you to press the Safety tab.The screen has a backlight, the traffic light color system associated with the reading read by the device. The color is preset to a specific temperature reading, with a warning in red and a normal range reading in green. The temperature reading/light combination is as follows :-Amber/Orange 38Red 38.5 to 42.To do the reading, just press the power button and turn on the thermometer.Point the device to areas such as the forehead or ears and make a reading showing the digital temperature value and color-coded alarm. The device will be turned off after a few seconds to save battery power. The device has the last known reading memory, so you can refer to the previous temperature by simply turning on the device. This allows you to quickly determine if the temperature increases or decreases over time.If you prefer to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit, simply press the button inside the battery box as described in the attached instructions.A small blue cover prevents dust from settling onto the sensor when not in use, while also allowing you to keep the device in a vertical position.Interestingly, the reading can still be read when the protective cap is on.The accuracy of the thermometer is very accurate.I tested it next to other similar devices and the readings were consistent and accurate.Having a traffic light system can quickly and intuitively refer to the meaning of the actual reading. If the device shows a yellow or red light, you will know that the temperature reading is properly high even if you don't know if the digital reading is high. This thermometer is accurate and easy to use, and is the ideal home thermometer for home use
