I made a cheap mobile power outlet so I could power a lot of things on the go.
This is great for camping or when you need electricity on the go.
I used 18650 batteries (9)
From used laptop batteries and 75 W Inverter for cars.
It cost me about $2 for the battery and $5 for the inverter.
This could charge an I phone from zero battery to full 12 times.
It will be easy to power larger devices using larger inverters and more batteries.
About 10 lbs battery (
100 batteries, about $15 used laptop batteries)
A 1000 watt inverter can power the microwave oven for nearly an hour.
Many other things, such as small refrigerators and televisions, can be powered.
First, I made the battery pack.
I use 9 cells, 3 cells in series and 3 sets in parallel. Voltage 12. 6-
From full to empty.
The maximum current is about 13. 2.
I stick the battery heat together and then weld the ends with 22 gauge wires to form a 3p3 package.
I weld the larger wires to the front and negative end of the package.
I then connect the battery pack to my inverter and plug in the soldering iron to make sure it works.
It begins to melt welding as quickly as it inserts into the wall.
I welded the wire to the inverter.
I flipped the part in front of the fuse so it pushed the spring back to connect the positive part.
I welded the negative battery wire to the switch.
I welded the inverter to the wire.
I push these solder joints into the box to charge and check the battery voltage.
I'm hot glued to the inverter to charge the wire in the box. I used 12.
A voltage transformer rated 3 amps for charging the battery.
You can plug it in and put it on for a few hours and it won't charge too much.
The battery pack can be charged up to 12.
But when the voltage reaches 12.
It will stop charging.
You can easily connect the multimeter to the wire to check the battery voltage.
You should cut the cardboard on both sides of the battery pack to check the voltage of each battery.
You can balance them with a rechargeable battery.
I have something plugged into this power box and they all work well.
I have tried 12 w soldering iron, I phone, I pad and laptop so far.
Remember the power limit of your battery and inverter.
My inverter can run 60 Watts in a row and at this power the battery can run for about an hour.
