A German company will set up a battery production plant in Adelaide to create 430 manufacturing and installation jobs.
Sonnen will produce 50,000 energy storage systems over the next five years at prices ranging from $7000 to $30,000.
It has not yet chosen a location for its plant and is currently considering four locations, but Chris Parat, general manager of Australia, said it only takes about six to nine months to start and
The company plans to sell its system to the Australian market, but also to export it, and will pay all the build-up costs in a policy that does not accept government assistance.
"What we are doing is bringing cheap, affordable clean energy to South Australia," Mr Parratt said . ".
"In South Australia, we are at the forefront of energy policy and renewable energy.
Sonnen is also a company in this field.
Prime Minister Jay Weatherill said Sonnen will also move its headquarters from Sydney to Adelaide.
"Employment is our top priority, and the leadership of the workforce in the renewable energy sector attracts the attention of companies like Sonnen, encouraging them to invest, grow and create jobs," Mr. Weatherill said.
The Prime Minister said the batteries will be attractive to families who promise not to use the labor force
