Ather has a goal in the first place to make the best (not just electric) scooter in India.
This means that 450 needs to be lively, practical, well-structured and, most importantly, eager.
Because it is electric, it also needs a practical urban range.
Therefore, for the major task that is ultimately accepted by the vast majority, the 450 increase is the need to be a desire in the first place.
This happened when the car first came out and also on the phone.
But, unfortunately, electric scooters are not part of this list.
Why because the manufacturer compromised to make them cheap, cheesy and oh-to make them affordable-so-slow. But not Ather.
The 450 is in use as the S340, but continuous improvement means that its power and range are also increasing.
Now, the company plans to offer electric scooters in both versions.
The fair warning is that there is a lot to discuss about this incredible machine, not only how it drives, but also the technology it packs. So here we go!
The Ather 450 does look like an electric scooter, but that's not the case in the traditional tacky/fragile sense.
It is thin and avant-garde.
The design of the whole scooter is themed "clean.
All the panels are very simple and only one body line goes through to make it sharper.
There is a narrow headlight on the front panel, and of course, it is an LED.
Below are two floating panels to give the scooter some quality. It runs on 12-
Inch wheels at both ends, with 90/90 knots of rubber.
The slightly wider settings look better, but the Ather chooses to use them to reduce the rolling resistance, resulting in greater efficiency.
When you look from the side, the radical design of the scooter really works.
The white rear body has obtained a floating design by contrasting it with the black floor.
This seat is very practical and very good. designed two-
Point hinges completed in green, increasing the height of the scootertech look.
A wonderful design touch is its 4-side standbar-
Link flush with body panel.
The only thing I find a little strange is the front fender of the high platform.
Personally, for a slightly traditional front-end design, I would prefer it to sit a little lower.
The taillights are designed to occupy a central position in the back.
The ultra-thin LED unit outlines the top edge of the rear body and transitions to silver-
Like the LED indicator on both sides
Even the Green exposed monoshock is a design element and it does add quite a bit of visual appeal.
You don't get anything in terms of paint options; this is it.
Rest assured that motorcycles are getting a lot of attention in the city and people want to take a look and reassess what they just saw.
It doesn't look as upscale as the big maxi.
Scooter, but still much smarter than almost everything.
The technology on the Ather 450 is two-fold.
What is immediately visible in the form of a dashboard above it, 800x480 pixels, month-inch, full-
Color capacitive touch screen.
It shows almost all of the standard information, but also shows a real range, a complete
Screen navigation via built-in GSM or even your vehicle registration file.
You can also get the smart toggle switch on the right to accept/reject new navigation routes pushed from your smartphone, or accept/reject rerouting because touch is disabled when the scooter moves.
The other part of the technology is located below the screen, and the brain of the scooter is just below the screen.
It is a combination of vehicle control units and load distribution units. Designed in-
House, these two systems not only analyze your riding data from the sensors of the scooter, but also from the navigation system.
They try to give you as much scope as possible according to your riding style.
It keeps learning your riding style on a specific route and displays the intended range on the dashboard based on your usage.
Then electronics.
The battery management system is also in-house by Ather.
When charging, the system can detect whether the battery temperature is too high, or whether the charging speed of a specific battery is comparable to that of other batteries.
It can then reduce the charging current or focus on specific batteries to automatically optimize charging and maximize battery life.
BMS also communicates with the motor to ensure equal discharge and optimal operating temperature for all batteries.
She also got 6-450-
Axis inertial measuring device.
But do not have hope for the traction control system;
She uses it to control herself.
Cancel the indicator.
The combination of the IMU and GPS connected to the map determines whether you have completed the turn of the automatic kill indicator.
It's just the beginning.
The aluminum frame of the scooter is completely covered with plastic body panels, giving off a high quality of construction and first-class paint.
You can't find a fragile or cheap-built panel on the body.
When it comes to storage, the trash can capacity below the seat is 26 liters-
The biggest motorcycle in the market.
The most impressive thing is that it is easy to have an Internationalspec full-
The size of the helmet, there is extra space around.
Rubber in the storage room.
The side has a cube hole lined with a beautiful LED strip on the top edge for lighting.
Then there is the way the seat is opened and closed.
It is mounted on a long hinge, which gives it a lot of rigidity and allows the seat to stop on the handle when it is opened so you don't have to lift it up.
The boots are also equipped with a rubber strap to prevent emergency charging cables or any other baggage from being discarded.
But the best way is the way it closes.
Simply drop the seat from a short height, and the clip falls perfectly in the lock in a way that ensures "Thunder.
No trouble by seat--neat indeed!
There is also a hook on the front apron, which sits in a flush position and the floor is large enough to easily hold a fairly large laptop bag.
The power supply to the Ather 450 is 5. 4KW (7.
34 PS) generate a brushless motor of 3. 3KW (4.
Continuous power of 4 PS.
It doesn't sound very good, it also produces a mammoth elephant.
Peak torque (Nm Ntorq-9. 2PS/10.
5 nm), this is impressive.
What's more impressive is the number it can time.
Ather claims that 450 can do 0-40kmph in 3. 9 seconds.
To better understand the situation, one of the fastest scooters we have tested-cc TV Ntorq completed the test in 3 minutes.
68 seconds, and 4 seconds for Honda Grazia.
It's also 19 seconds.
Although the claimed figures seem a bit optimistic, comparable to a motorcycle in India, we have little doubt.
From the word go, 450 is silently peppy.
It's a new experience, and when you screw the throttle you get the torque that breaks out instantly.
Until you reach about 55 kilometers per hour, it is still linear, all you can hear is a slight complaint from the motor, while you quickly pass through almost all the people in the traffic.
Even with the release of the 55 km/h mark, there is no real interval for acceleration, and the Ather 450 lasts until the true maximum speed of 80 km/h (nearly 90 km on the dashboard ).
Because almost all the torque of the motor is generated instantly, the response of the motor has been pulled down when you just went offline.
This makes it very smooth with busy traffic.
The throttle off will not make the ride tense.
But when you are already rolling, turn it on and the way it jumps forward is very fast for the scooter. This roll-
The acceleration must be the most impressive part of the 450 performance, which also makes it ideal for urban commuting.
There is also a parking assist mode that allows you to reverse at speeds up to 2 kilometers and move forward at speeds up to 6 kilometers, engage by sliding in or holding down the brake lever from the dashboard, the indicator turns off the switch, and the ignition.
You can switch between forward and back in parking assist mode by simply clicking the ignition button, which makes it very easy to move on tight parking spaces.
Next is their biggest problem. -the range.
OK, let me start by saying it's impressive.
Unlike other manufacturers, they give an optimistic range that can only be achieved with slowness and stability, and the Ather 450 is managed more stably while surpassing other manufacturers.
Eco claims a range of 75 km in Eco mode, 60 km in standard mode, and 107 km in ARAI certification.
We were surprised, too.
Our work while riding a motorcycle is far from the best range.
I decided to take the early empty streets of Bengaluru as soon as possible.
We start with the dashboard, indicating 60 km in the morning, and after about 40 km, the dashboard still shows the distance of 18 km on the left.
My colleague Priyadarshan rode more sensibly, and after our day it was 25 km more in the "tank.
This helps us realize that the realistic scope of the scooter is as claimed, if not more.
In Eco mode, the performance of the motor is limited by full acceleration to obtain a better range.
Nevertheless, it is still very useful in the city.
If you have to make an unplanned trip during the day, Eco mode will help you to and from.
Also, the regenerative brake takes over when you leave the throttle.
This provides a very natural slowness.
If you want a more positive delay, just use the throttle to be a little negative and the regenerative brake will be pulled up!
In Bengaluru, Ather built something called the Ather Grid ---their DC fast-
Charging stations in 30 locations throughout the city.
These are located in shopping malls, coffee shops, restaurants and gyms so you can spend your time comfortably while your motorcycle is charging.
In addition, these charging "points" are dispersed in a way that is not more than 4 km away from the other.
At home, through 5-
Amp AC socket, you can get 80 charge in 2 hours and 40 minutes, while it takes 4 hours and 18 minutes to reach 100 in total.
However, if you choose to charge quickly, you can have a range of 60 km in about 1 km/min.
However, if you buy 450, Ather will come to your place and install a "point" charger (though still 5-
Amp AC is available for free, not DC ).
Even charging the scooter at any grid point is free, at least in the first year.
In terms of full acceleration, the Ather 450 feels fast.
To make it feel a little sporty, the suspension is set on a firmer side.
But with a softer seat and a gradual postshock, the ride won't be too hard.
The suspension filters the road well, but can feel the rigors of the Broken Road.
Due to the low center of gravity, the front and back weight ratio is 51: 49, with zero lateral offset, and the Ather 450 is very flexible.
Tipping is a bit too fast and requires some people to get used to traffic.
But this is only a short learning process, and this flexibility will soon be welcome.
Even at speeds close to 75 km/h, the scooter feels very comfortable due to the low center of gravity.
Another key point to highlight here is the comfort of the pillion seat.
With a wide, long, soft seat, pillion stays comfortable and the footrest position built into the chassis is excellent.
Everything is put together and it's one of the best pillion seat experiences we 've ever experienced on any scooter.
Even if the payload on the scooter exceeds 160 kg, the acceleration is fast and the balance remains the same.
The 200mm Bybre front disc brake unit feels good.
The feel and feedback are well adjusted and provide a confident braking feel.
That said, the bite on the back 190mm petal disc is a bit too sharp to be easily locked.
But the scooter does provide a standard combination brake, and the braking results are very reassuring when you use the two levers together.
To be honest, no.
If we are to be picky, the brake lock and center rack should be part of the package, and the switch button for the touch screen may be 5-
Combine more features.
Also, the initial power cap for the smooth pickup feels too secure, and it would be welcome if more power is turned off.
Well, Ather said they were thinking about brake locks and with simple air updates anything related to power, software, and electrical subsystems could easily be changed.
The scooter has a 2 year/30,000 km warranty period and the battery pack itself has a 3 year/unlimited km warranty.
There is a bunch of IP certifications on the screen to make sure they are not damaged by water or weather.
In fact, the scooter has a wading capacity of 300mm until the battery and motor are completely underwater and continue to work.
But even if all of this has been tested over 3,50, 000 km, the first few batches may face some software problems.
Fortunately, they can fix it overnight with OTA updates.
Also, since the only consumables on the scooter are the brakes, there is no service center for the Ather and there is no need for regular maintenance for the scooter.
If you end up in trouble, someone from the company will visit you in person, solve the problem, or put the scooter at your doorstep.
First of all, you can't buy a scooter anywhere in India, but Bangalore.
In addition, production will be restricted at the beginning.
The second phase will include cities such as Chennai and Pune, but this will happen when Ather builds a grid there next year.
So, for now at least, it's super exclusive.
Then there is the question of price. At Rs 1. 24 lakh (on-
Bangladesh Road), the most expensive motorcycle made in the country.
If it is up to us to judge, this 450 is worth every penny because it has installed a charging point at home, charging for one year free of charge from home and power grid, with GSM and RSA facilities included in the price.
If you want to spend a little less, it's a little lower.
The price of specification 340 is Rs 1. 09 lakh (on-Bangladesh Road ).
Ather just doesn't make scooters, they make one of the best scooters in the country and can easily replace traditional scooters, at least in the city.
Instead of stopping there, they continue to make it smart, connected and full of technology, which is not available even for many cars on the road.
The result is not only an ordinary electric scooter, but also a quality experience and taste for the future.
Ather has implemented what it has to do. -made a no-
