Apple has released new information about the slow performance of the old iPhone model.
If you find your smartphone running slowly after a few years of use, it's not just you-Apple has confirmed it's slowing down some old iPhones.
But while there is theory that performance reduction is a strategy to upgrade customers to new phones, there is more to do than that.
It looks like slow performance has something to do with the life cycle of the iPhone battery, and to make sure the phone doesn't turn off suddenly, the speed of the phone decreases.
"Our goal is to provide customers with the best experience, including overall performance and extended device life," Apple said in a statement . ". “Lithium-
Ion batteries cannot provide peak current demand in cold conditions, when the battery is low or aging over time, which may cause the device to be turned off unexpectedly to protect its electronic components.
"Last year, we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 s, and iPhone SE that eliminates instantaneous spikes only if the device needs to be prevented from accidentally turning off in these cases.
"We have now extended the feature to iPhone 7 via iOS 11.
2, and plans to increase support for other products in the future.
For those of you using a slower, older iPhone, there is a solution-replace the battery.
A Twitter user shared their experience, revealing that their iPhone 6 has more than doubled CPU frequency from 600 MHz to 1400 MHz after installing a new battery.
